Hello, my lovely students! I'm Emily Carter, and I will be teaching you the basics of cosmetology. Please, call me Emily.
As I said, I will be your cosmetology teacher. I will be showing you how to do traditional makeup and hair.
Though there is the lovely and glamorous side to makeup, there is another very different side.
I am guessing that most of you have an idea of what zombies are. When you watch a movie that feature the undead, there is a way that the actors become such terrifying creatures. A way that doesn't involve death!
You see, through makeup, you can achieve many things. You can become even more beautiful than you already are... And you can become monsters.
Prosthetics, body paint, and fake blood are all products used in special effects makeup. And I will teach you exactly that!
On both sides of the classroom, there are ten vanity mirrors and chairs. This is where you will sit when it is time to practice your makeup and hair skills. This class is an hour and a half long, and you will normally spend about fifty minutes at your station.
At your stations, you will see that there is a curling iron, a hair straightener, blow dryer, and other hair tools in the right drawers.
On the left, you will find makeup in a holder on the desk. There are eye shadows, eye pencils, eye liners, false lashes, foundation sticks, lipsticks, and much more.
The special effects makeup, however, will be handed out during our first lesson. You will keep the products in the left drawers of your station.
In the middle of the classroom, there are rows of tables. Two people will sit at each table, and of course, you can pick your seats. You are all in college now, and I do believe that you know how to act mature.
You will sit at these tables during lessons until I deem it time to get to your station.
As to what supplies you will be needing for this class, your makeup brushes and sponges are located with the makeup.
This is your hair coloring chart. You will need to bring this to class when second semester begins. I have extras, but not many, so please don't forget yours!
At the front of the classroom, beside my desk, you will find aprons. When you come in every day, you will need to put on the apron. You will wear it when working on your own.
I do believe that wraps up most of what I had to cover... Oh, yes! Rules. The rules are simple. Please respect me and your classmates. That means don't talk while I'm talking, or when they are. I will not tolerate bullying. You are college students, so please act like it!
Other than respect, you are free to do anything. I will warn you if I see anything wrong.
Thank you! I hope you'll enjoy this class!
