WHAT IN THE WORLD IS A "NERD LAB"?! [Tag: Hiro Hamada]

It was silly, who in the world would name a building "Nerd Lab"? Fang looked at the list of the classes that he was taking in, he currently has Robotics as the number 1 class. Of course, IT'S HIS MAJOR! And the only major that he could "compete" with his rival, Boboiboy.

The two are circling around the school campus just to find this "Nerd Lab", they could only find "Ito Ishioka Robotics Lab". Boboiboy looked at the pocket watch that is wrongly synchronized, it was given to him by his grandfather. Unfortunately, his grandfather forgot to adjust the time and now he doesn't know what time it is now!

"Say Fang, maybe we should ask the people inside? Maybe they could point for us to this...this 'Nerd Lab'." Boboiboy asked, he was getting impatient of going in circles for who knows how long. "Hm. Fine, it's getting hot in here anyway." So does Fang, who is not used with the temperature. It was a mix of hot and cold, more like his body is cold and the school campus is hot.

Inside the Robotics Lab, it seemed a little quiet. There are no people around the hallway, which it is creepy. They could hear a slight noise from the hallway, it is the only door they could see. Boboiboy tried to open the door, but it seems that it's locked from the inside. As for Fang, he didn't take attention of his friend making himself a battering ram just to open the door...that says "Push"

"Boboiboy, the door says Push not..."

"HIYAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

"WHAT THE-?!"

Fang tried to call Boboiboy because he made a silly mistake, only to see a quick breeze passed him to the door. The Chinese could heard crashes of machines mostly, and a small "Owwwww" could heard. When he opened the door, it was a disaster. 
He saw the unconscious Malay on the floor, and a pocketwatch that its parts are scattered. 

At a glimpse, he could have sworn he saw a boy who has the familiar messy hair. Could it be? As a moment of opportunity, Fang called the boy as loud as he can.

"Hey you!"

The room was empty, fine. So, he could the first one to use the room and it was his opportunity to start working on a personal project, that he could use for a model for Callahan's class. He used the lab at times for either grading papers, typing up the syllabus, or working on models that he could use for classes for the students to understand more quickly. He did hear two boys talking in the hallway and heard one of them mentioning why the place is called "the nerd lab". It was something that Tadashi came up with originally, and then he started to call it that not only for fun,but, also, a key way to remember the location. He then heard something and turned around and saw that the door was crashed by one of the boys, and he heard a crash of some watch, which could easily be fixed. He saw one of the boys calling out to him and he ran up to them, and did see one of the boys falling onto the floor. "Hey, you ok?" He asked, to one of the boys; he then turned to the other boy, and smiled at him. "Hey there, Fang." He greeted, with a small grin.

"WE'VE. BEEN LOOKING. EVERYWHERE. FOR YOU! Don't you know how tiring it was just to look for you?!" Fang slightly freaked out that they have been walking outside and here he was. He walked towards Hiro like an exhausted troll and grabbed his shoulders while shaking him vigorously.
"Just answer us. WHAT IN THE WORLD IS A NERD LAB?! And tell me that this isn't a prank of someone, it's a ridiculous name." the Chinese asked with a hoarse voice tone, he actually thought that "Nerd Lab" is part of a prank by someone and both of them are victims.

Boboiboy felt a little dizzy from what he did. Muffled voices can be heard from a near distance as he try to focus himself in waking up, his vision shows two boys and a broken pocket watch. His head still hurts, but he didn't mind about it and just picked up the pocketwatch. He did gain a bleeding scratch from a very sharp piece of the broken pocketwatch as he tried to open the back part to see the lid has an unknown part of whatever machine it was that is taped on the lid. He sigh in relief as he carefully stood back on his knees.

He took a step back and felt like this little boy was getting pretty excited over the fact that he was looking for him for a while, which was pretty reasonable. "Well, here I am. Do you need help with anything like homework or finding your class? Anything you need, I got it. Also, other locations where I am just in case you need me. I'm in Lucky Star Cafe or in here most of the time." He said, and pats his back. He then felt his shoulders being shaken with a question regarding the nerd lab, and he had to agree with him with the name "Nerd Lab" being a little too silly. "Well, my brother actually came up with the nickname. The real name is Ito Ishioka Robotics Lab; which you guys are in right now. The nickname, well, in my brother's point of view, is the easiest way to find the lab, so, he called it that way." He answered, and hoped that question would satisfy him. He then turned to the other kid, which had a scratch on his head and pressed a button for Baymax to help the kid. The white puffy robot walked right in and saw the kid with the scratched head. "Oh, this is Baymax. He'll mainly help anyone in three seconds." "Hello, I am Baymax, you're personal healthcare companion." He greeted and turned to the kid. "On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate your pain?"

When Boboiboy saw a thing called "Baymax" his hair stood up when he heard a sound like a wheezing sound of a balloon. His breathing began to shorten when he hear rubbing of balloons.

Fang had to facepalm. Not because of the robot's movements, but because of what he looks like: A BALLOON!
For one thing that Fang knows about Boboiboy is that he is Globophobic, it means he has a fear of balloons.

"GIYAAAH!" The Malay released a hysterical scream when that huge balloon 'walked' in front of him. He tried to run, but he can't balance himself well until Fang caught him before he fell. Boboiboy cowered behind his friend while covering his ears as hard as he can, even clawing his dinosaur cap "Please don't explode. Don't explode. Don't explode!" He murmured while his breathing are somehow shortened.

Fang gave Hiro an "Are you kidding me?" look.

When Hiro looked at the kid, who did look pretty scared at the moment, he gave out a sheepish grin at the two of them. "Hey, don't worry about him! He's nice and friendly to everyone, also, he does not explode." He said, with a small smile and looked up down at the student. He walks right over to the boy and pats his back. "Hey, everything will be fine, trust me. Baymax is a robotic nurse.." He comforted, with a small smile going around his face. He then looked at the other boy who was giving him a look, and he smiled sheepishly at him. "Anything else that you need to know about this lab?" He asked, with a small smile.

Boboiboy took deep breaths just to calm down while holding Fang's hand, the Chinese didn't mind about it as he wanted his friend to be okay. When he was able to calm down, though not looking at the balloon robot, he did remember a question on "How he would rate his pain". He touched the wound on his head, which respond to a numb, yet painful jolt. "Owww...it's...8?" he respond while red liquid started to flow slowly on the side of his face. It's not much, but it could show that whatever the part of the pocketwatch hit him is really sharp.

Fang decided to answer Hiro's question while keeping an eye on Baymax for whatever he will do to Boboiboy, he snatched the broken pocket watch that his friend holding on to. He inspect the broken object carefully so he wouldn't get cut by the sharp pieces. The numbers of the clock such as 3, 4, 7, and 9 were shown missing, the hour and minute hands were bent while somehow has the feeling that it is still ticking but not moving, the glass that covered the numbers has scratches and it is partially shattered, the gears that controlled the movements of the hands were gone, and the hairspring got unlatched from the inside.
Then, Fang could have sworn he saw some little traces of blood from the back lid of the watch.

He was right that there is something that doesn't belong to the pocket watch. There is a yellow, yet old and scratched metal shard being taped on the back lid, and the sharp tip showed a single dot of blood. Where it came from? He only knows that and he doesn't want to answer it. Fang quickly removed the taped metal out of the lid and hide it inside his pocket.

"I have two questions. First, what exactly is Baymax going to do to Boboiboy? Second, do you have parts for old aged pocketwatches? It is very important to him and he treasured it dearly." Not only he has doubts that there is a way to fix it, but also he kinda challenged Hiro if he is able to repair broken things.

When Hiro saw that he was trying to calm down over the fact that Baymax was there in front of him, and he was quite glad that he was trying to stay calm in front of him. He did remember his reacting to seeing into Fred in costume for the first time, as though he was freaked out due to the costume, but, got over it a couple of seconds later. As soon as Baymax heard his response being an eight of ten, he detects that he's cut badly. "I'll take good care of you.." He said, with a soothing tone in his voice, and felt like helping out this young kid would make him a better health companion. He then quickly sprays some medicine on him to stop the bleeding. "This spray medicine should make your bleeding be less." He said. "Glass basically scrapped your forehead, better be careful with sharp objects, which could cause tetanus." He said, as he continues to spray some medicine that can cure the bleeding. Hiro, looking at the broken watch saw that it could use some serious repairing, and he thought it could be fun to fix it. He did hear his questions from Fang, as he picks up the pieces on the ground. "Well, right now, Baymax is curing your friend. Tadashi actually programmed him to help everyone in need, whether emotion or physical. Right now, Bymax is helping your friend by cleaning his scrape." The robot, after cleaning the area with medicine, puts on a bandaid. "How do you feel now?" He asked, and offered him a lollipop. He just remembered his second question and finished gathered everything to fix. "As for your watch, I have old parts to fix your watch. I fixes things like these before." He responds, and just starts to get to work on it, it was a little challenge, but, felt like he could do this.

Boboiboy saw a small lollipop on Baymax's balloon hands, it seems surprising that after healing his wound Baymax still wants him to feel better. The Malay slowly reach his hands without touching the vinyl to get the lollipop, still without looking completely at the robot. He observed the small red candy with an ordinary plastic cover that can be removed easily, the flavour is probably strawberry or apple if he could taste it.
He remove the plastic upwards and place the lollipop to his mouth, it was okay for the taste probably was sugar free.
When he heard the question: "How do you feel now?"

He turned to Baymax completely and tried to look at the robot's hyper spectral camera eyes, he was shocked by that question...and somehow reminds him of someone. When it is just Boboiboy and Baymax, he stood up and went closer to the robot even though his body is shaking from either fear or the injury. He still can't look much at Baymax because he still had the feeling of the robot's body might explode.
His shaking hand have unconsciously held out in front of Baymax and suddenly placed on the inflating belly, it was warm. And that was scary, it really reminds him of someone that he actually want to forget.

As much as he could say that he is "Okay" now, he wasn't.
"I...don't want to feel anything anymore." Boboiboy replied politely with a smile.

Fang was watching Hiro fixing the broken watch, he has a feeling that the prodigy might throw one of his tools because of frustration. That pocket watch is old aged that there is a possibility that it is unfixable due to parts that aren't available in San Fransokyo, they have to get it from somewhere else. He actually doubted the prodigy ever since before going here, it was probably Hiro's fault why Boboiboy studied here.

"I heard about the fire incident in the University, but have you heard the earthquake?"

When Baymax saw that he grabbed the lollipop quickly, he thought that he saw that he looked surprised from the way he was eating it. Hiro, feeling bad for the kid, walks over to him and taps his shoulder. "Hey, you alright dude?" He asked, with a small smile. The robot looked at him, still seeing that he looked a little overwhelmed of him; and Hiro hugged for comfort. "Hey, don't worry about anything. Baymax is a friendly robot. He can even take people, like you on rides. Want to see what he looks like when I put on his super suit on him?" He asked, gently. When Baymax did hear his response on him not wanting to feel anything, he tilts his head and looks down at him. "What do you mean by, "not wanting to feel anything anymore?" He asked politely. Hiro, while trying to work on the watch, thought that indeed, this is a challenge, but he still had his determined face on, as though that he was going to fix it right away. It would take more than an hour to fix everything. When he heard one of the kid's question about an earthquake incident, he looked at him and raised an eyebrow. "Well, we rarely get Earthquakes in this area, why do you ask?" He asked, and raised up an eyebrow.

Fang smirked, it seems that Hiro isn't that smart as the Chinese would have thought. He pulled out his phone and tapped in to a browser, then he types "1906 Earthquake". Pictures are showing the damaged buildings and raging fires all over the city, it would probably gave anyone goosebumps on whoever saw it, especially the dead bodies were either, burned, buried, or crushed to death.
He showed the pictures in front of Hiro like he was SHOVING it to the Prodigy's face, and he actually did without any concern that Hiro was still working on Boboiboy's pocket watch.

"On April 18 1906, San Andreas Fault triggered an earthquake so intense that it killed so many people on whoever is near the vault. It was THIS place that made the worst natural disasters in history. It sucks to be someone living in that time alone."

He then showed Hiro the online article about "Malaysia Earthquake"

"June 5 2015, an earthquake triggered in Malaysia. Even though few people died, it is still that strong to make any casualties. But that's statistics, they mixed things up. You're lucky that your place is now designed to withstand against the strongest of the earthquakes, unlike in the home where Boboiboy and I lived...He will freak out when I said this, but we were the victims of the Earthquake and Boboiboy almost died." Fang finished while looking at his friend with Baymax hoping he didn't hear what he said to Hiro, it was a SUPPOSED to be a secret. Though, Fang feels that Hiro can be trusted temporarily.

Meanwhile, Boboiboy was with Baymax. He was asked of what 'not wanting to feel anything anymore' mean, the Malay scratched his side of his face in embarrassment. However, he thought of it not funny at all.

His smile remained the same "Well, I don't know. I feel numb, and I don't know why. Everything just feels numb for me, I'm not even tired. I don't know what's wrong with me."

As he saw that smirk, he made himself face-palm, as he got himself outsmarted by him already, and they just met. He did not remember anything about an earthquake happening, but, then as he was looking at the pictures as he thought that they were somewhat similar to the fire incident back when the college got on fire; he just remembered that he did learn something like that from a History class, but, the professor did not go over it that much. He then felt a small flashback to the incident when Tadashi got burned and he had to go to the hospital right after, which was a bad thing, and luckily, he did not die, but, get Amnesia. When he was working on the watch still, he did hear the kid getting an article right off his phone, and heard the student mentioning that he was talking about the earthquake again, and it made the fire incident in the Nerd Lab nothing compared to a natural disaster, which did sound worse than what he was mentioning. As he saw the article, he reads everything carefully, and it did seem awful from what he was reading, and he sighed as he did feel bad for the people who lived in Malaysia. He then listens to Fang and his eyes widen that their homeland was effected by the Earthquake, which did sound horrible. "My gosh, I don't know what to say, I'm really sorry that you two had to go through a traumatic experience.." He said, and quickly gives him a small hug of comfort. "Hey, I won't tell anyone this. I promise." He said, and smiles at him. No one this young had go through an experience like this, as it did sound very tragic. He then saw then saw Baymax talking to the other student, as he saw that the robot was trying his best to help him. "Well, numb. Very interesting. Is anything bothering you at the moment? If you want, talk to me. You are my patient, I would like to help." Baymax said, and tilts his head at him, as he was trying to figure out what is making him feel this way.

As much as he don't want to blurt something silly to his Soon-to-be-Academic-Rival, he doesn't like hugs and he felt uncomfortable about it. Fang stayed stiff when Hiro hugged him, his jacket was a little cold and the Chinese wasn't wearing his jacket. Fang wasn't used with hugging yet, and it feels a little awkward.

However, he wasn't impressed when Hiro said that he was sorry that they have to go through a traumatic experience. It is an EARTHQUAKE, for pete's sake! OF COURSE, IT WOULD BE TRAUMATIC!. Seriously, Hiro saw the incident just now.

"I don't want to say this, but I am a little offended. A lot of people always said that to us when I mentioned that we were the victims, they don't know what it's like to see your friend's loved one died. If I were in Boboiboy's shoes, I wouldn't eat or sleep from seeing my "friend" getting crushed to death. But I forgive you, Duishou." Fang gently wriggled himself free from the hug, and gave Hiro a cocky smirk after he said the Chinese word of "Rival"

He turned to his back to check on Boboiboy, the Malay seems to be busy talking to Baymax. This would be a good diversion for whatever Fang will do "And besides, I'm not the one who had the traumatic . HE did, two times." He motioned his thumb to Boboiboy's direction, indicating that he was the one whom Fang is talking about.

He grabbed a chair and dragged it near to Hiro as he sat on it, Fang placed his hands to Hiro's shoulders tightly.
"Now that you've earned my trust, you have to listen in what I am going to say. This involved Boboiboy, and you are the only one I can count on. HE might be mad at me for saying this secret of his, but it MUST. Otherwise, everything will get worse for him. I have been through this before, and I don't want to see him suffering. DO YOU UNDERSTAND in what I am telling you?" He whispered in a hoarse voice and shook Hiro's shoulders just to get him the attention.

Meanwhile, Boboiboy was surprised when Baymax is willingly going to help him. He tried to maintain his breathing as he gently pushes Baymax to a corner to where Fang and Hiro cannot see them, it would mean that he wanted to do this privately. He hoped that it would really help him to make his breathing better. "I have a friend once, but...he's gone now."

Seeing the the student was feeling a little awkward during the hug, he quickly releases the action and did not want to make it more awkward than it already is. He saw that he was feeling stiff and did not want ton make him uncomfortable. As soon as he saw that he as feeling a unimpressed about his apology regarding the earthquake, he raises an eyebrow. It did sound worse than that one incident, but, Hiro did not know about this accident in the first place until now. "Hey, my brother knew what it felt like. Luckily, during the fire incident in the lab, he got offended when people asked about what happened." He felt himself getting frustrated over the fact on what happened that fateful day, and people thought that he was dead. "I would have done the same thing.." He said, with a small whisper of sympathy and pats the boy's back. He saw that the kid was trying to get him to keep this secret of his friend being traumatized during the situation, twice and he nods. Something like this should not be blurted throughout the college.

"Understandable. I won't tells anyone." He said, with a small nod and had determination in his eyes. Hiro made a silent promise to himself that this secret will be kept between him and Fang.

On the other side, Baymax felt his back being pushed by the patient whom he is taking care of. He heard that he saw he had a loss of a friend of his and he nods. "I
am very sorry about the loss of your friend. He does sound like a dear friend to you. What was he like?" The robotic nurse asked.

"His grandfather talked this story only to me and he told me to send this one to you." Fang closed his eyes and begins with a sigh to remember every single word he was said to him, but he smiled a gentle smile.

"8 years ago, before the earthquake happened, he was just a young boy and a quiet one. He doesn't have any friends nor enemies, until someone came and befriend him. He was one high spirited boy, more like Boboiboy's opposite. Times went by that they became best friends, they watched the shooting stars above, sing songs, and even played soccer." Fang's smile faded away a sign meant that the next one would be serious. "Until one day, Boboiboy's best friend was killed...he died a horrible death. Boboiboy was trying to find him in school when he heard a scream, he decided to follow it to where it came from. By the time he found the source, he couldn't move nor speak. He saw his best friend's face melted from a bully who poured him a bottle of...sulfuric acid." He hesitated in saying the dangerous chemical, and disgusted in thinking about it. But he has to continue so he wouldn't get nightmares.

"His face was...UNRECOGNISABLE, the acid almost melted all parts of his body. What worse is when he received the thing you had in your place: The Swirly. You know, when your face got shoved by a dirty toilet? Then, Boboiboy was spotted by the bully and decided to kill the witness. He couldn't breathe because he was strangled to death, the bully was trying to kill him to prevent witness. But...Boboiboy was glad that he still has his best friend by his side, his best friend was able to fight the bully before the cops arrived. The bully was arrested and his best friend was sent to the hospital, he was still fighting." Fang takes a peek to where Boboiboy and Baymax are talking before he continue.

"The doctors weren't able to fix his condition, so he had to be moved to another country in order to save him. Boboiboy waited and waited for his best friend to come home, it wasn't the happiest time for him. Worst news of his life came when his friend...died, he can't fight anymore because of the damages of his body...so he died. God, Boboiboy was scared for life! He received Post Traumatic Stress Disorder because of that, he could still remember what happened but he wasn't able to say anything to the cops. All he did was nothing to save his only friend, exactly nothing! It didn't take too long before he attempt to kill himself, his parents were able to stop it. 4 years later, his parents decided to send him Pulau Rintis and he was able to recover. His grandfather said that he never seen Boboiboy that happy for 4 years, he was able to have friends, play outside, even doing chores." He laughed when he mentioned chores because that is one thing that Boboiboy doesn't want to do.

"On his 14th birthday, his parents gave him a present: A robot that is made by their own hands, and he named him "Ochobot" for some reason. Hard to say, but they became friends. And then you know the story about the earthquake, Boboiboy almost died when he was about to get crushed until Ochobot came and sacrificed his life to save him. His trauma came back, because Ochobot was crushed to bits. After that, here we are now we became the students of San Fransokyo Academy. Though, I blame you partially for THIS." Fang poked Hiro's forehead hard, hoping the Prodigy would fall of his chair which he pushed Hiro to the floor

"By the way, about his dead friend. This is the city where he was buried." He concluded.


Meanwhile, Boboiboy was twiddling his thumbs when he was asked what was his friend looked like. "I...Oh no...I still can't remember what he looked like! My head, it hurts. It's hard to remember..." He stressed out.

His fingers were clawing underneath his cap, which it fell off that reveals his brown and messy hair, that accidentally ripped the bandage off. "I can't remember what he used to be, his body and his face were melting. I don't know why it had to be him, he didn't do anything wrong to deserve it. Me...I didn't do anything to save him, it makes me wonder why I am still alive. I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD IN THE FIRST PLACE." He raised his voice in anger.
